You view people as controlled by both fate and their own worst impulses. Your vision is people wear their daily masks of evil and terror, but really have no control over their ultimate actions. They are puppets or showmen, incapable of stopping thier actions, even when those actions are self-destructive. You use your photography to warn others of the dangers of beauty, the evil behind the pretty facade. It can be there, it can hurt you. And it can be beautiful to behold right before it strikes. You can not stop yourself from being drawn in anymore than they can stop themselves from trying to hurt you. Because, if they could stop themselves, well they would not have hurt you, would they. But I don't feel any sense of evil in you, you are warning us, trying to shock us with your truth. Don't trust anyone. Jerry Coleman - Photographer |
